Where do I start? What should I know first?
You should start by imagining what you might want your room to look like. Coming to us with a vision allows us to help you create your ideal space. We can help to mold your room in away that fits your personal style. Pick one item that you love to create a focal point for the room that will help set the tone and mood and prioritize for the rest of the furnishings. Window treatments are typically the last thing that goes into a room and that which unites the entire room.
Some things to think about:
- How functional do you want your window treatments to be?
- Do you need more privacy? Light control?
- Are you losing heat?
- Is the incoming light fading your upholstery?
Will hardwood shutters warp?
When treated correctly wood lasts much longer than most synthetic shutters. Typically wood is dried a degree which matches the average interior moisture level. The grain of natural wood in the proper environment facilitates the long life of your shutters.
Can you mix draperies with other window treatments?
Of course! Many window treatments are purely decorative and frame the window openings. At times that is simply left alone but windows can contain practical treatments as well. Treatments like fabric valances or side panels hung from a decorative pole are popular methods used in standalone or combination window treatments.
How do I keep my window treatments clean?
Most window fashions require very little care with only minimal care and cleaning necessary. You shouldn’t have to do much to keep them looking new! Window treatments will need regular dusting and occasional vacuuming. Depending upon the fabric some may be dust, soil, and stain resistant and other can be treated with soap, wood oil or preservatives.
